Senior Tyrese Williams posted a personal best Long Jump of 21′ 6 1/2 ” to win the Montgomery County Public Schools Championship. Williams, one of Sherwood’s team Captains, has been consistent all season, yet found a way to improve his efforts.
In addition to the Long Jump victory, Williams helped the 800 meter relay of Eddie Dumas III, Shimsone Melek-Dawveed, Williams and Jacob Kamara fly to a convincing win in which the Warriors 1:29.05 time bested the second place Paint Branch Panthers by 1.05 seconds, a significant margin in a sprint relay.
Senior Joseph Nazzaro continued to bolster his team scoring and his Discus throwing resume as he placed second in the discus throw with a 143-00 toss. Junior Sean Enright ran 9 minutes 45.4 seconds to place 5th in the 3200 run and create a personal best time in the process.
The Warriors’ 6th place finish in the County Championship meet is their best finish in over 8 years.
