Sophomore Olivia Miller had a request for Coach Dan Reeks. Two days before the County meet, she asked if she could she be switched from competing in the 400 meter dash to competing in the 800 meter run? Reeks agreed, contacted the meet director, and the change was made. Miller then proceeded to win the Montgomery County Championship 800 meter race from the second fastest heat by running 2 minutes 21.29 seconds. The best time in the next, faster heat was 2 minutes, 22.69 seconds, and Olivia Miller, a Sophomore, became County Champion.
The Sherwood Girls’ team had strong finishes in several events to earn 8th place honors in the 25 team meet. Senior Sofia Grossman placed in both the 100 meter hurdles, and the High Jump. Senior Rylie Johnson placed third in the Discus Throw. Freshman Katie Kaneko placed in both the pole vault and the 1600 meter run to add to the Warrior’s scoring total.
