  Place Points
Sherwood High School 2nd 60

Cross Country meets in late October can be run in any type of weather and conditions from cool, balmy days to frigid freezing afternoons to wet, soggy, muddy days. The Sherwood Warrior Girls Cross Country team encountered the wet and soggy conditions caused by over two hours of steady rain in Timonium, Md. on Halloween afternoon.
Katie Kaneko was not haunted by the course conditions as she took the lead by the end of the first mile which she ran in 6 minutes and 18 seconds. She then created a gap between herself and her fellow competitors and finished six seconds ahead of her nearest rival in the time of 19:37.8.
Meanwhile, Emily Gravell was not far behind and finished 5th with her time of 19:55.9, and Christy Trang finished 12th as she finished in 20:56.7. Rounding out the Warrior team were Emily Zanni- 20; Brenna Henderson – 22; Marissa Harris – 29; and Corinne Wasson 31.
The top five finishers score for a Cross Country Team and the sixth and seventh runners serve as dis-placers against other teams in the race. Overall, Sherwood’s Girls placed second out of 10 teams with the score of 60.
Sherwood’s next Cross Country Meet will be the State Championship meet on Saturday November 9 at Hereford HS. The Girls will compete at 10:30 AM.
