Tuesday night the JV field hockey Warriors not only played with a purpose but for a purpose as they took on Springbrook during their Play 4 the Cure fundraiser. The team came out united and controlled the game with their signature passing game. During the first half Springbrook kept the Warriors out of their circle and the half ended scoreless.
In the 2nd half Sherwood regrouped and restructured their positioning on the field which allowed them to have “numbers up” advantage in the mid field. With the extra mid fielder, Kayla Larsen, Hannah Lees, Ella Joliet and Alison Keller began aggressively forcing the ball up field. With 13:52 on the clock Ella Joliet took an ice hockey slap shot from mid shooting circle to score the first goal. A few minutes later Sherwood took advantage of a break away run and Hope Tippery fired a crossing pass in front of the goal to an awaiting Elana Winters on post, who was able to reach out and deflect the ball into goal. With 3 minutes left on the clock Center Forward Hope Tippery charged for the scrambled ball and tipped the ball into goal for the final goal of the night. Congratulations on another shut out game.
Come out and support your Undefeated Warriors as they take on Paint Branch Tuesday Oct 9th at Paint Branch.
