Sherwood’s Girls Cross Country team ended the 2019 season on a slightly disappointing note on Saturday Nov. 9. The team placed 13 out of 22 teams at Hereford High School.
For the second year, the 3 mile course, considered to be one of the five hardest Cross Country courses in the US, got the best of the Lady Warriors. Sherwood’s top finisher was Junior Christy Trang, who placed 38th in the field of 159 finishers. Also finishing in the top five for Sherwood were: Emily Gravell- 56, Katie Kaneko 66, Brenna Henderson 92, and Emily Zanni 101. When the score is tabulated, non-scoring runners from other teams are removed from the scoring. Sherwood then earned 336 points.
On a promising note, all seven of the Lady Warrior runners and their alternates are underclasswomen who should have the opportunity to compete at the state meet in 2020.
