The Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team beat Springbrook in dramatic fashion in front of a spirited crowd at Springbrook High. The Warriors knew they were in for a battle right from the opening tip. The Springbrook Blue Devils were stout in the opening quarter, draining their first 5 shots, 4 for 4 from behind the arc, but the Warriors had an answer for almost every basket. No team had more than a 5 point lead the entire game. The Warriors had a hard time matching the Blue Devils size down low, while the Blue Devils could not match the Warriors speed. Springbrook led by 2 points, 57-55, with 3.5 seconds left to play, and shooting 1 and 1. Springbrook missed their first shot, the Warriors got the rebound and called timeout with 1 second left on the game clock. Coach Bill Sartori drew up a play and the Warriors executed it. Noah Elias inbounded the ball by rolling it to Mesai Fulmore near half court. Inexplicably, the Blue Devils did not guard either Warrior. Fulmore picked up the ball and hurled it from half court. The final buzzer sounded while the ball was mid air, and right before the ball swished in the hoop. Nothing but net. The Warriors mobbed Fulmore in celebration. When asked about the shot after the game, Fulmore said I could feel it was going in when the ball left my hands. The Warriors were led by Mesai Fulmore’s 21 points, 5 three pointers. Noah Elias had 12 points, 5 rebounds, and a blocked shot. Nick Wilson had 9 points 1 blocked shot, Brett Seils had 7 points and 4 rebounds. Dakota Jordan had 4 points, and 5 rebounds. The Warriors never gave up and fought till the end in true Warrior style. Congrats boys.
