Game Recap

Congratulations to a great win for their final game of the season, which was played Tuesday at home. The girls showed great determination as both teams were scoreless in the first half of the game. Both teams were determined to win their final game and the intensity grew as several shots barely missed their mark from both teams.
In the 2nd half Sherwood turned on the heat as the mids pressured Paint Branch for possession of the ball. Great defensive plays by Saara Haaq with her text book jabs and Nia Zagami’s picture perfect block tackles caused several key turn overs to stop the break away runs from Paint Branch’s forwards which would surely have been goal scoring opportunities.
As the clock wound down to less than 10 minutes left in the game, Sherwood was able to capitalize on a turn over from a free hit. Sophia Wooden pressured to gain possession of the ball passing back to Kate Petronis who started the counter attack. A great sweeping pass into the circle to an awaiting Ally Walsh who was ready and eager to score slammed the ball into goal. The Sherwood defense was able to hold off Paint Branch for the remaining minutes, as Phoebe Farris cleared several attempts by Paint Branch to score to end the game in a close 1-0 score.
Congratulations on a great season!
