Congratulations to Coach Pete Siarkas being nominated by the Sherwood High School (SHS) community for the SHS Coach of the Month – February.
Coach Pete Siarkas dedicates countless hours ensuring the success of the Sherwood High School Wrestling program. Coach Siarkas recognizes the value of athletics as an integral part of the total school curriculum. He places emphasis on lessons in nutrition, sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, and how to win with humility and lose with grace.
Coach Siarkas is meticulous regarding maintenance of facilities in prevention of ailments unique to wrestling such as ringworm or MRSA. He organizes and utilizes his student-athletes to assist in setup, maintenance, and breakdown of equipment so that student-athletes learn the value of service for the program and the school. This is especially evident during his execution of the 3A/4A West Regional Tournament which draws over 1,000 people each year into the SHS gymnasium the last weekend in February.
Coach Siarkas continually promotes SHS Wrestling by serving as a volunteer coach for the Olney Boys’ and Girls’ Club Wrestling program. He consistently plays an important role in helping students of all ages develop a healthy self-concept as well as a healthy body. He epitomizes all the good things happening at SHS and is no surprise that he was voted by the community for SHS Coach of the Month – February 2017.
The SHS Athletic Department is proud of his efforts to help SHS excel in athletics! His Warrior Pride is truly appreciated by SHS administration, coaches, teachers, and staff. The SHS community can vote for the March SHS Coach of the Month at www.sherwoodathletics.org
